All That Breathes - Fairfield Theatre Company Environmental Film Series

  • StageOne - Fairfield Theatre Company 70 Sanford Street Fairfield, CT, 06824 United States (map)

The first film in FTC’s Environmental Film Series is "All That Breathes", the award winning documentary set in Delhi, India about two raptor rehabbers and the ways in which climate change and their crowded surroundings impact their work. This film won Best Documentary at Sundance and Cannes and many festivals in between. HBO has purchased the rights and will air it in March '23. FTC is lucky to be able to show it on December 8th, before it streams, and include a live zoom Q&A with the stars of the show (direct from India), a local ornithologist, a nature cinematographer and Suzie Gilbert, who happens to know the stars, Nadeem and Saud. It will be a great evening. About The Film

In one of the world’s most populated cities, two brothers — Nadeem and Saud — devote their lives to the quixotic effort of protecting the black kite, a majestic bird of prey essential to the ecosystem of New Delhi that has been falling from the sky at alarming rates. Amid environmental toxicity and social unrest, the ‘kite brothers’ spend day and night caring for the creatures in their makeshift avian basement hospital. Director Shaunak Sen (Cities of Sleep) explores the connection between the kites and the Muslim brothers who help them return to the skies, offering a mesmerizing chronicle of inter-species coexistence.
