Community and Conservation Connections Forum

Come meet and engage with community and conservation leaders in the H2H region and learn about how they are helping to make connections between people and nature in the area. This event is open to anyone in the area, not just H2H partners. If you are working with a group that might find value in connecting with others in H2H, please bring them along!

A focal point of the event will be a panel of community and conservation leaders speaking about their experiences with specific projects, what challenges and solutions they see in connecting and engaging communities to the natural world, and how conservation groups can play a part. Panelists will speak on topics such as urban habitat restoration, mapping wildlife corridors, and community outreach and engagement. Panelists include:

  • Adam Choper, Farm Director, Hilltop Hanover Farm

  • Stancy DuHamel, Former Co-Chair, Harlem Valley Appalachian Trail Community

  • Chris Nagy, Director of Research and Education, Mianus River Gorge

  • Jessica Schuler, Program Coordinator, Westchester County Dept. of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation and steering committee member, H2H RCP

  • Lisa Shanahan, Common Council Member, City of Norwalk; President, Norwalk Land Trust, City of Norwalk; steering committee member, H2H RCP

  • Reggy St. Fortcollin, Conservation Outreach Manager, Aspetuck Land Trust

  • Louise Washer, President, Norwalk River Watershed Association and steering committee member for the Pollinator Pathway National Organization and H2H RCP

Attendees can also visit partner tables which will have a variety of information, programs, and resources related to initiatives they are leading aimed at connecting habitat, connecting people, and connecting us to one another. Tables include:
