Cancelled: Trail Steward Training 2020

  • To be Rescheduled: Stonebridge Preserve Newtown Tpke and Stonebridge Road Weston, CT United States (map)

Calling All Hikers and Trail Users

Do you love hiking? Is there a particular Aspetuck Land Trust nature preserve you visit regularly? If so, join Aspetuck Land Trust as a Trail Steward.

Aspetuck Land Trust seeks volunteers to help us monitor and maintain our trails.  No prior wildlife experience required. Being a Trail Steward means being responsible for the well-being of your favorite trail or nature preserve. This includes letting us know what animals you see, notifying us of trail repairs, attending an annual trail steward gathering, clearing trails of trash and minor debris and overhanging or fallen limbs or branches, and removing invasive plants.

You can do all of the above or pick and choose based upon your interests and physical abilities whether you own a chain saw and like to use it or if you just want an excuse to take a hike in the woods. At a minimum, we are looking to find volunteers who can hike our trailed nature preserves and report trail obstructions like downed trees.  It's a great way to volunteer to help the land trust while enjoying the great outdoors. You can be a trail steward by yourself or with your family and kids!

Join us for the Trail Steward Training where we will review the "Job Description" and supply you with knowledge. If you will be coming and have nor already responded please REGISTER.

If you are interested in volunteering but cannot make this event please let us know HERE. we would be interested in knowing what town and Aspetuck Land Trust property you would like to steward if you have a preference.  For more information about our preserves simply follow this link and click on your town to open our town map which shows our nature preserves.

Happy trails, we hope to hear from you!!
